COACH/FOUNDER: STEVE BROOME

I first heard of Muay Thai in `98 from a friend and went with him to our local club. It was called Petch Yin Dee and was run by a man called Nic Hewitson.
I trained for a couple of years taking gradings along the way also travelling to seminars assisting Nic teach. A year or two later he emigrated to America leaving myself and a few of the senior members to take over the running of the club.
At this point I decided to travel to Thailand, first to the North, and then Fairtex Bangkok, Once their I developed my understanding of the sport and a whole new way of training. Upon my return realising we were missing some serious elements of Muay Thai, I started to look elsewhere and found a gym in Rugeley.
I travelled over a few nights a week training alongside some of the Country’s top fighters. I also continued to Coach at our local club, eventually deciding to set up my own gym in 2008.
I went back to train with Tony in Rugeley more regularly and qualified as a judge. 2010 saw a return to Thailand training at Kaewsamrit Gym as well as more poignantly having the opportunity to train regularly with Dean James.
My focus has never been on fighting but gaining as much experience from the best instructors I could find. |
