Today’s event was headlined by the World Ring Sport Association English Welterweight Title contested by Shrewsbury’s Kev Briggs fighting out of Shrewsbury Muay Thai and Thomas McDonough fighting out of Waterloo Street, Bolton.


"A stoppage?, i predict its going to be a war“, i WILL win!" said Briggs who is coming off a knockout win over the durable Rick Sadler in November. McDonough is coming up from his usual 63.5kg weight class, has 8 fights and more experience at this level, winning in London in April leaves him fresh for the challenge, whilst Briggs has had a number of injury set backs in recent months.

Hometown support may give Kev a boost or will it spur Tom on… well a war it was, both looked strong but the tide turned in the third when Briggs who looked massive at the weight landed a sweet right hand as Tom came back off the ropes for a stunning knock out win!

Also making his return after suffering a devastating stoppage loss, a fight he was winning Lee Johnson takes on Jason Mummery under B`Class rules. Leading on points Johnson seemed to be comfortable going into the third round against Irish fighter Brian Murphy, that was until a knee to the face ended his night early.

Looking to get back to winning ways at domestic level and prove the doubters wrong! Mummery is coming off a stoppage loss but has the experience over his opponent….

Mummery looked to land massive punch combinations but was stopped in the third after the effect of Johnsons powerfull body kicks dropped him twice, a real warrior performance from Jason but its Lee Johnson who will go on to the title shot.
